The speakers are plugged in correctly (colour coded) and work correctly when plugged into my mp3 player.
However on the computer I am not getting any sound, I have spent the day reading through and performing every fix available to me from the internet to try and get sound to work. It's a realtek ALC850 on board sound card. I have installed/re-installed drivers, deleted and re-installed windows multimedia support.
The only thing i haven't tried is enabling onboard sound in the bios because i cannot i only have the option to either disable or auto and auto doesn't seem to be working.
There are no hardware conflicts displayed in device manager and the device is recognised as working correctly. This is a brand new computer.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

first check if u r able to play songs in windows media player.if it is playing the songs then ur sound card is fine,if it is not playing the songs then u must have insalled wrong drivers.
Now connect another set of speakers and see if it is working
