Depends on whether you want the hard drive to be the main drive that the computer boots from, or a second drive just used for data storage.
You have to open the computer, install the hard drive into one of the bays designed to hold drives, and attach two cables to it - a wide ribbon like cable that attaches to the system board, and a power cable. If you look on the back of your current hard drive, you will see the same kinds of cables attached to it.
Each of the ribbon cables in your computer can hold two devices. If the hard drive will be sharing its cable with another device, then one of them as to be set up as the "master" device, and the other as "slave". If it will be you main hard drive, then it must be the master device. There will be a jumper, usually near where the ribbon cable attaches, that you move to make the drive either master or slave.
If the hard drive is going to be the main (or only) drive in your computer, you will then have to install Windows on it from your Windows CD. If it is going to be a second drive, you will only need to format it.
If you are lost trying to understanding these directions, I strongly recommend that you get a professional (or your favorite computer geek) to help you. If not done right, you can damage the drive and/or the computer.
