I want to buy some usb cables on ebay but they say the cables are 1.1, I would be using these on 2.0 peripherals, will that cause a problem or are the cables the same?

USB 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.1 However, the 1.1 will run much slower. Get 2.0 cables. You'll thank yourself after waiting to dload something on a 1.1 connection.

Actually, the cables are the same, but a 1.1 cable does not guarantee that it will work at 2.0 speed. It all has to due with RF strength as well as shielding. Go with the 2.0s just in case.

The cables should be backwards compatible, but as the other person said they will be slower.

Be careful that you're getting cables that can plug into your peripherals. Many brands use a proprietary (that company only) connection at one end, forcing you to get more cables through them or a licensed manufacturer. (Luckily this has been changing recently, and many brands are starting to use a common connection.)

no problems, other than the transfer rate will be lower, because 2.0 ports provide faster transferring if you are using 2.0 cables. so it will work, it will just take a little longer for data transfer.

The cables are the same. It is the computer tower and software that determines whether it is USB2.0 or USB1. They are interchangeable and backward compatable. That is, if you plug it in and you dont have the drivers for USB2.0, then it will run at a bit slower speed, USB1.

2.0 is faster.

If the 1.1's even work on the 2.0's then they will go very slow.
