my laptop says "windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system" how do i fix it if i dont have a recovery disk..?

Here are some stipulations:
1. 4-6 lbs. (I will be taking it to campus a lot)
2. 512 RAM or 1 GIG of RAM if possible
3. Long battery life
4. Dual Core Processor or at least 1.6-1.8 GIG
5. If not a Dual Core Processor, then 2.2 GIG plus

For those many of us familiar with windows, it wont get off the screen with the little three squars that scroll at the bottom on boot.

When I book in safe mode is comes to a dead stop in loading:

multi(0) disk(0) rdisk(0) partition(1) \ WINDOW \ system32 \ DRIVERS \ agpCPQ.sys

(no spaces in anyof this of course)
Now, I can observe that this particular thing is a crutial driver for the operating system to function... but i dont know how to solve it...

I've tried every route using two diffrent recovery disks, and i dont really have to money to take it to comp. doc... so any help would be great!

Can anybody tell him how I could render my laptop “Beyond Repair” it was really expensive and I just want them to replace it because it is always breaking down.

Accidental damage isn’t an option because its not covered for that so I can’t spill water on it or hit it etc.

I was thinking about putting it in a microwave? Id like ideas on how I could break my laptop without making it look like I did something to it.

recently, my sister's laptop fell off her desk and the screen cracked. We've tried to attach a moniter to try to view the contents on there, but we realized we need to click an option in the display menu to view it this way.
basically, I was wondering, is it possible to link-up this computer and her laptop and control her laptop from this one? Or should we just take it in and hope for the best?
(also, they're both Compaq computers running Windows Xp. If that helps any.)

The symbols on my laptop have rubbed off, and I cannot read it...My laptop does play DVD movies.

When I place a blank DVD into the driver, is it typical for the cd drive to call it a "cd" and not a dvd? I am trying to learn how to copy movies onto blank DVD disc. My 2 year old is ruining her movies (and mine) by being independant....

ok my chihuahua is apuppy and it was nibbilin on my charget it was near the top and it cut a litte slither in it and like tiny wires are hanging out..... i mean the cut is so small but these little small wires are hanging out i push back in and i have to angle my charger cord at a certain angle to make it work and i dont want to deal with this what can i do?.... i have to keep the charger at a certain angle to worn and it is a hp pavillion zv 6000 i bought the pc in 05 christmas what can i do im 13?

i have a 3 year warrany on my compaq. over teh past 2.5 years, I've had my hard drive replaced 4 times, 2 new AC adaptors and a new battery. also, my screen was replaced once. basically, the computer sucks.. the fan dies quickly and it overheats in 30 minutes. the rule at compaq is that they will replace computers after the same part is changed 4 or more times, but I do not want to wait for my hard drive to die once again because I'm a college student who needs her computer daily. does anyone know of something i can do to the computer that will force compaq to just replace my entire computer?

I bought an HP Laptop recently, and found it is the perfect computer for me. I love everything about it and have had no troubles with the hardware. HP offered me more hard drive space, RAM, everything than Apple. However, I hate windows and think it is the worst operating system out there. Its too confusing and not at all user friendly. I dont want a Mac for a number of reasons, but when will apple make it simple and easy to run Man OS X on a pc, I know they made an HP iPod, so why not an HP Mac?


By the way, what is an emulator, because ive heard that is the only way, but is it legal, and is it a replacement for windows or just to run both OS on the same computer. I want to wipe the computer clean and install all new operating system.

I keep getting an error that comes up everytime, i use internet explorer.
When i click on the error as it comes up as a page, theres nothing there.
