Can you or can't you. I couldnt sleep one night cause all i wanted to do is see if my wireless laptop can be used as an internet source for my 360. I tried it and it didnt work.

I've had 3 mac laptops in my time, im on my 4th. all my other ibooks sadly died of logic board failure, I don't know why, but they did. I want to take extra special care how I can with this one and i wondered if i had worn out the logic board by leaving it in sleep most of the time. I started shutting this one down in the day when im not using it, is that better? because I always believed and heard and said...macs prefer to be but into sleep than rebooted.

I think from tripping over it and continually taking it in and out, it became loose and wont stay in anymore. At the moment its currenlty held on by an elasticated band wrapped around it and on to my computer. The sellotape idea failed as the heat from my laptop made the stick go! Apparently its expensive as id need a whole new back battery area put it in(according to a friend)..Its just immensly annoying as the second itheres a slight vibration it falls out and the bloody computer starts beeping at me to charge!!!AHHH..anyone have any similar problems or ideason what I can do?! Its a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop and 2 years old..thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

Earlier today I think I may have stepped on my laptop so now there is a crack going down the right side from the top (around 3.5-4.5 inches of straight crack and another 3 of little droplet looking things). It's black all around the crack, which I know isn't unusual for a screen crack but if there is some way to repair it without calling someone in to do it I'd like to know.

I am planning to buy a laptop but have never bought a computer before and all the jargon just confuses me, eg on PCWorld they mention the following: dual core processor, 667mHz FSB, 2mb cache,1024mb RAM and 80gB hard drive. I need some guidance as to what these mean, what are the most important and what sort of values these attributes should have. I am a make up artist so need it for general internet etc but also for looking at photos and need to see them accurately and clearly. Thanks!

the only thing wrong with it is the laptop screen is broke
got it for 50 a friend paid the 50 for me

I have a Toshiba A40 series laptop with a 2.5 ? 40GB HDD. I wish to clone my HDD with an external HDD so that I can simply get someone to insert it in the laptop if the original HDD fails. Misco sell an Ultra enclosure with a Toshiba 2.5 40GB HDD. Could I clone my hard drive onto onto it and it could be removed from the enclosure and inserted into my laptop in the event of failure of the HDD?
Would a cloned HDD work as a replacement HDD or would some windows components be missing or not functional? Perhaps I am wasting my time and would be better just buying a new HDD if the original one fails. Its the thought of all the updates and loss of useful settings and software that bothers me. Thanks for any help that you can give me!

My laptop is 20GB, but it lists the space as 10gb max on the C drive and 8.6gb max on the D drive. Since the minimum space required is 10gb to burn a DVD (with an external burner), would I be able to burn with a total of 10gb free space between the combined drives or would the space have to be on one drive (I don't know if the C and D drives are considered separate or not). I realize other factors would need to be considered also. Any information is greatly appreciated.

my friend said that every dvd burner has a limit for no. of burning that it can perform. For example,if i've burned 1000 times,after that the dvd burner tends to fail. Is this true? I always burn my movies and backup my files on dvd+r. he said that people usually buy the external dvd burner,so that when it got damage,it is easy to replace,compared to built-in dvd burner in laptop. Should i worry about this and bought external burner eventhough the one in my laptop is perfectly fine?

Hi, Never had a laptop before, thinking of getting one at the mo, I would say my budget is around 600 quid at the most, It will be a games machine, I dont need the latest garphics card but definitely need one that can run all games for the next few years or so. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on a laptop, where is best to get them from (interest free credit is a bonus). and anything else you think I may have to look out for.
Also, is there a possibility that I may have to wait until Vista is up and running, as XP may be rendering any current laptops obsolete before I even look at them?!
