I want a basic laptop just to surf the net, do research, online shopping etc., no downloading. The Compaq C310 is £449 at most stores at the moment, it has 80gb HD and 1024mb memory, 1660 mhz processor speed, I am quite new to computing - would this be suitable for my needs?

my only comment is that a 14.1" system would be preferable, 15.4" a bit too bulky for portability
