Laptops & Notebooks - January 2007

I recently installed Photoshop onto my hp latop, and it seemed to take, but a day later a blue screen flashed, and it shut off. Since then, I've been unable to fully start my laptop. When it boots up, it won't start up Windows.
I think it might be the battery, and if this helps, I usually have the AC plug in it. It almost never runs off of the battery alone.

I would like to burn DVD movies to backup some movies, but my laptop does not have enough disc space. Would it be possible to connect an external HD for space and then an external burner to burn the DVD? My laptop only has a CD burner (that's having some reading issues as it is).

I am not looking for a pad with fans in it. Too noisy and flimsy. Why not link a solid state chilling device to (or under) the internal heat sink? Nexus makes a pad with a heat sink (quiet) but I am looking for active, versus passive, cooling.

BTW, I have replaced the internal (noisy) fan in my Dell 8200 laptop, which required the total disassembly of the laptop. Not recommended!

it read.... couldnt find IP address, enter a password or code. Could it have been set up wrong from the start?, it was purchased at christmas and works fine at home but not anywhere else.

I'm wanting to connect my laptop harddrive to my desktop computer's motherboard. Instead of buying an adapter, I'd rather make my own. I already have the plastic connection pieces and wires in my possession.

My DELL INSPIRON 600m keeps overheating... It reaches temperatures of 135 fahrenheit. It becomes most annoying when I'm trying to play a game online and it gets so hot that my mouse cursor slows down and everything is "skipping". I have found a temporary solution which involves alternating between two freezer packs to keep it cool but I wish there was a better way.

1.) Does anyone else have this problem?
2.) It is fixable?

i have laptop with c.d.tray i wish to transfer music from computer to floppy disc some one said floppy disc will not fit in tray is this so?my intention is to then put floppy disc into yamaha keyboard that has floppy disc facility anybody ever done this my keyboard also has u,s.b. connection but floppy would be easier?

I have a quite powerful laptop, I guess its heaviness is down to either the extra cooling system, or the extra battery. The latter sounds more convincing to me. I actually use my laptop as if it was a desktop, is it a good idea to solely running it without the battery? Consequently making my carrier bag lighter... and I guess the answer is...yes?
