I'm wanting to connect my laptop harddrive to my desktop computer's motherboard. Instead of buying an adapter, I'd rather make my own. I already have the plastic connection pieces and wires in my possession.

Do any of you know the correct order to connect the pins? Thanks!

Just buy an adapter. They are like $6.30.

If you are trying to connect the wires to the hard drive;

You will have 2 wires, a data able and a power cable. Both will have red side on them. By looking at the hard drive you will know which cable goes where. The only thing you should know is that the red sides of the wires will be facing each other from the power cable side to the data able side.

yes I do know the exact wiring for the adapter. but if you do it wrong you will not only kill the hdd but also the ide on the main board. so don't be stingy just spend the money and buy one.

they gained't in good shape into your workstation. yet there is a thank you to get entry to your HDD from you workstation. you could set up the HDD right into a USB exterior stress and hook it up on your workstation. you are going to be waiting as nicely from the USB stress in the journey that your sys board bios helps it.
