I need laptop for running engineer software.
who can compare these tow brand from deferent aspect?
and which series do you recommend me?

Does it have to be a laptop? If not, then I would strongly recommend a desktop, for superior performance. Otherwise, I really have no preference on Sony or Dell as brands. I would personally take whichever had the highest graphics card, most memory, and fastest processor for the most reasonable price. The reason I dislike laptops is because they are harder to upgrade yourself. That all being said, Dell does have a nice help department, I do not know about Sony's.

Sony has a higher price tag, but offers unsurpassed customer support and hardware reliability. You can find this information if you are subscribed to consumer reports. http://www.consumerreports.org
I would go with a Sony because they probably have a model that gives you what you want and provides you support when needed. A dell machine might offer you what you want as well, but their machines are loaded with junkware and don't exactly look professional or have the user in mind from a design standpoint.

i have a a sony vaio pcg-k215m and my partner has an inspiron 6400, both have their good and bad points
mine is/was a top of the range high end laptop with a brilliant screen, however it is quite heavy for a laptop and as such it has a small battery life
the dell one, is fairly light has a long battery life, but it looks cheap and plasticly the display is not as good as my sony screen. also dell stick on loads and loads of unwanted software.
If i were you go for the sony vaio,

I personally prefer the Sony Vaio.
They are both fine laptop manufacturers.
However, anyone's general preference (including my own) would be biased & not very helpful to you.

DELL it works great im on mines now, i had it fo some mos now and i LOVE it , i have 2 computers from dell they r both great ,i just love dell the ppl take there time wit u i just love DELL

Del coz is cheap.. u wont use it after 3 years anywhere.. just choose dell
