it read.... couldnt find IP address, enter a password or code. Could it have been set up wrong from the start?, it was purchased at christmas and works fine at home but not anywhere else.

the person in the other house with a wireless network added his password in and it still didnt work. He thought that we have set it up to only find our IP address at home if that's possible

You may need to set an encryption key or use a password/username to connect.

One other thing that may be needed is to set up a static ip address in the network connection.

Try right clicking the little monitor in the system tray then look for view available networks,it should throw a list up highlight the network you want and click connect.If that does not work do same again and select repair and windows will renew your ip address.

The other networks you are trying to connect to might be Encrypted which would require the password.

do you know anyone without and encrypted network, if so try it on there and adjust the wireless setting accordingly
