I am currently preparing to applying to an art/design college to attend next fall.

I'm going to be working with alot images and pictures so I'm going to need a strong graphic card and memory card that'll be able to handle all my tasks and files. I also need a large screen to work with. Since I'll be thousands of miles from home, ease of portability: I need something light-weight and thin. It also means I need a long lasting battery life. Plus, I've been using PC all my life so if I have to use other things, I want it to be user friendly, and it must be durable and last AT LEAST 2 years without breaking or disfunctioning.

I checked out Apple's Macbook Pro, and it did meet some of my conditions but I wasnt sure if it was suitable for my art.

pretty design would be good..price isnt considered as much if it meets all my conditions.(but it'd be nice if I could get it cheaper.)

please, feel free to make any recommendations. be sure to include detailed information. Thank YOU!

i saw a hp laptop at walmart.com for 928.00 it has the dual core mobile technology (1.6 ghz). 2048 ram and 120gb. it also has a built in dvd burn and it comes with a web cam. i just wanted to know if it was a good buy. i am a college student. i dont really download music and stuff i just want something that is going to last me for a while.

It starts sorta normal. Then it goes to a screen saying something about it not working right and it gives several options to choose from like "start windows normally" and "start using last known good configuration" how do i get it to work again??

My laptop is Inspiron E1505 and when i go to turn on the laptop the dell and windows xp logos have blue vertical lines on the logo only and then when the xp loading screen is done and it would normally go the the user sign in page, but rather the screen goes blank and stays that way, but the system is still running. I have called DELL repeatedly and still have they yet to help me fix the problem or even identify it ....PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I disconnect my AC Adapter and go to battery, the screen becomes significantly darker and a little hard to read.
Perhaps there is a Control Panel setting for this but I can't find it. Maybe its a hardware "feature".

Anyone out there with the same model Dell Machine?

I have a desktop but need a notebook to use out for work. Everytime I ask a sales assistant they only tell me the +ve side of the story. I know notebooks are more fragile and wish to make the right purchase. ..something cute like the Sony Vaio but then Toshiba seems to have a good name and then there is Dell with its great service. I just can't make up my mind. If you have ever handled any of these brands please help me decide...Yours, truely confused

PS: I am comparing just the BRAND keeping other details (memory, processor, hard drive & price) constant

I am on my second Dell XPS M1210. I went all out and bought the XPS because my inspiron could not handle my work. I used Dell recommendations to get a really good configuration. Problem is that my system runs short of memory too often. If I open 3 programs and start working, at some point, everything freezes. I have to close 1 of them in order to continue working and sometimes I actually have to restart. I have gone and increased my memory from the control panel but that doesn't seem to do any good. Are there any suggestions?

i have Acer aspire 3000 laptop , i want to hook up my laptop to an RCA tv , i have video turner card ( netebook tv card ) i tried to hook up my laptop via this card but the it appear in tv nothing , well i tried with sitting and to make the second monitor and won't , the card has the s-video output and i have s-video adapter wich can allow to connect via the yellow or red cable , with the dvd i do connect it via tv card and very good but the tv no i tired with all my best and nothing in my tv so im writting in this forum and i wish can someone to help me plz . thanks to everyone

There are time when it starts up and the notebook tuns on, and for some reason it will freeze and will not continue to run. There are other times that it will start up and than as soon as my desktop starts appearing, it will freeze.

the reason i want to is because its so dirty underneath the keys with hair, dust, etc.

taking the keyboard out would be alot easier than using a little pin

I had been waiting for Windows Vista to be released so I could buy a laptop with Vista already installed. But now that I have been doing some research, it looks like Vista is going to be alot like Mac OSX. So now I am torn.

I will mainly be using my laptop for watching movies, some video editing, and uploading pictures from my digital camera. I use my computer right now for storing 2000+ pictures. Soon, I will be heading off to college so I will be using my laptop for PowerPoint presentations, essays, internet research, etc. So kind of laptop do you recommend? And can I use my laptop for internet anywhere I please? I also heard of a mac Leopard? Should I wait around for that to come out now?

I am coming to London,UK for my higher studies and thinking which is better for me MAC or PC laptop ? I have done research on MAC and found that new MAC can run Windows on it and I also like other features of it such as no viruses and many more other things .. I want to try new OS but I also want to install Windows on it so I will not get much problem with my work. Please tell me the performance of Windows on Intel MACBook and how Games work on it?
