When I disconnect my AC Adapter and go to battery, the screen becomes significantly darker and a little hard to read.
Perhaps there is a Control Panel setting for this but I can't find it. Maybe its a hardware "feature".

Anyone out there with the same model Dell Machine?
Similar problems? Solutions?

I've looked in the Control Panel but can't find the setting to adjust.

Could you advise the complete menu path?

This is normal...your laptop knows when you change over to battery life. You can adjust this by changing the screen brightness adjustment under my computer>change settings.

It is a software setting designed to prolong battery life.

Check your power settings in control panel both with, and without the AC adapter connected.

I have an Inspiron 1300 and it does this aswell. To adjust this there is a button on the keyboard named Fn. It's beside Ctrl on the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard. Hold this down and with the directional arrows on the keyboard press either up or down accordingly to adjust the setting.

Hi! This is a mode used when you go to battery mode to save power consumption. In order for you to increase brightness in your TFT when you are in battery mode press thye key "Fn" and the UP-Arrow key which contains the logo of the Sun. This will icrease brightness and to decrease brightness press Fn key together with the DOWN-Arrow key. Good luck. Hope I helped a little. Bear in mind that increasing brightness will increase battery consumption.

Is your battery brand new? Sometimes when the batteries get old they tend not to completely recharge. Also is your lap top battery charged up fully?/is your laptop charging your battery? OR Do you have a switch that saves energy?
