Two choices. Expensive Toughbook laptop -- very rugged but expensive, or much lower cost Dell laptop. Get the Dell.
If you are doing a lot of sitework also get a Sprint EVDO card for mobile broadband access so you can get your emails, drawings and bid packages sent/received from the job site.

A laptop is not what you need the best of to do the estimating, it would be the software that you need to use. When you find the software program that you need it will give you the specifications for the system that you need to run it on..
