I have a desktop but need a notebook to use out for work. Everytime I ask a sales assistant they only tell me the +ve side of the story. I know notebooks are more fragile and wish to make the right purchase. ..something cute like the Sony Vaio but then Toshiba seems to have a good name and then there is Dell with its great service. I just can't make up my mind. If you have ever handled any of these brands please help me decide...Yours, truely confused

PS: I am comparing just the BRAND keeping other details (memory, processor, hard drive & price) constant

If you keep all the equipment the same, then all you want is info on the brand name. Goto consumer reports and see what millions of people think about them.

I personnaly have nothing bad to say about Sony or Toshiba, but have had many bad experiences with Dell's and repairing of products....

Toshiba is Solid laptop and the quality is really good.

Sony vaio is stylish and powerfull, less solid than toshiba, but really expensive.

Dell is... just cheap...

IF YOU HAVE THE BUDGET, GO FOR A SONY. OTHERWISE CHOOSE A DELL. I REPAIR AND SELL COMPUTERS. AND I GET TOSHIBA LAPTOPS WITH HEATING PROBLEMS VERY REGULARLY. ALTERNATIVELY, HP AND IBM ARE MAKING GREAT LAPTOPS NOWADAYS.
