I have a computer now that it 6 years old. I need to update it but don't want to spend too much or get extras I won't need. I email, internet....pass pictures....would like to burn cds/dvds. I have Windows 98 currently. I am not the most computer savvy person obviously. I want to do some on-line bills and such but am afraid of theft, fraud...etc....would like a system that provides decent security as well. Is there a way to update my old system? Can I just purchase the tower....I have a flat screen moniter....good printer. Any help would be grand! Thanks!

All i know is i was on a wireless network surfing the net and shut the comp down when i was done. the next day i turned on the comp and the screen don't even look the same. it looks like a generic screen prompting for a password. it won't take the one i normally use and the xp screen don't come up. i can't get to my desktop or access anything past this screen. do somebody think i caught a virus? Please help, anything suggestions will be useful. It's a Panasonic laptop CF-29

i just wanted to know before I downloaded it to my MacBook laptop, because I was told that it can be bad for your computer period. But the Limewire Pro is suppose to be better for your computers if you wanted to download that.

My Sony laptop will not boot up. The battery still full and I plug the power cord in, but nothing happen. There were no sign of light, sound or anything at all. I think it might be the power generator, but I’m not sure. What could cause that?

alright then what exactly is the difference if the ghz are the same in each of the models
Example :
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66 GHz)
vs
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-52(1.6GHz/512KB)

they are both 1.6GHz but what is really the difference??
