Ok, =D hey
alright then what exactly is the difference if the ghz are the same in each of the models
Example :
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66 GHz)
vs
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core TL-52(1.6GHz/512KB)

they are both 1.6GHz but what is really the difference??
thanks :D

Example :

6cyl 300 cubic inch engine from a Ford Pinto
and
6cyl 300 cubic inch engine from Porche Turbo

What could the difference in these 2 engines possibly be ? Obviously there is a great deal more to performance than basic specs. Internal architecture has a great deal to do with performance.

In the case of these 2 processors they are both Porches. It's a question of preference. Common concensus is that Intels are more expensive because they have a huge advertising budget .... not because they have a higher quality ( by any means).

I would look at the whole package. What mainboard, memory or upgrade options do each of these configurations offer you ? Where's the best bang for the buck? Etc ....

Well the Core 2 is actually a little more, 1.66 compared to 1.60, but that is not really important. The Core 2 has more cache however, which is important. I would say that the Intel in this case would yield a little bit better performance, but if the AMD is significantly cheaper, go with it, I would say in this case the performance gain with the Intel is worth no more than $75, just as something of a guideline.

The difference is Intel is a much better quality and a life span that is atleast twice as long.

The AMD is a much better CPU. Skippy peanut butter is better than JIF, etc, etc...
