Hi all. I've got NTL at home. I only have one TV in the lounge and just heard about being able to watch TV on a laptop.

I heard about Hauppage but it seems to be about Freeview.

Would it be possible to watch NTL on my laptop and how?

I put a new battery in it, and only the lights at the top came on. My charger is acting funny, its making this quiet, high pitched beeping noise every time i plug it in. I know nothing about laptops, or computers for that matter, can anyone help?

I mainly use it at home these days and I want to conserve the battery. It works fine on AC power but I want to confirm if there are any drawbacks. Secondly, the notebook goes into hibernation within a few minutes when the battery is not attached even though I have adjusted the settings. Why does that happen and how can I stop it from doing that.

When my PC turns on without problem, it works OK for some minutes and then it freezes and locks-up. Nothing moves, no mouse or keyboard.

After that the only way to turn it off is pressing the on button for 5 sec. After that it won't turn on immediately. I have to either wait a few minutes or hours before the laptop will want to turn on again and if it does it works OK for again the 5-10 minutes or so.

Is that a problem with CPU/processor, since I reckon, it must've been getting hot & hence the problem occurs & the reason laptop don't start immediately is cos the CPU is still hot & need to cool down. Could there be another problem, instead.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 & haven't downloaded anything recently over the Internet that could've possible be behind this problem.

Can anyone around help ???

I am looking for a laptop that can deliver high resolution video (as high as 2560x1600 ). Even if I have to use a docking station that still would be good. I have looked and did not find any at Dell. Anyone know of another brand that has something like this.

I would like to buy a laptop but am on a strict budget. There are refurbished laptops at Tiger Direct for less than $500. If I am buying one at a price like that, what is considered decent in terms of memory, capacity, speed, etc. Even though I need to get a cheap one, I still want one that runs nicely. Is this possible? Please give me some specific numbers (i.e. amount of gigabytes). Also, is a refurbished laptop even reliable? Thanks.
