is the screen message I get... The machine is a Dell insperion 8600. My old HD went out (Hitachi) so I got a new Fujitsu 80 gig, dropped it in the tray and now I don't know how to get it to boot up... what do I do? get a boot up disc? Burn one of a site? what? Then of course I have to try and re-install XP. I do have the disc.

TIA mitch

assuming you already set up your system bios for this drive i would tell you to insert your dell re-installation CD or a windows xp install CD into your CD ROM drive and restart, your drive should install OK

Full Format the Disk ( Using Xp Setup or win98 bootable disk ). If it Doesnt make sence, then try to Lawlevel Format ( Use external SW [ From Internet] )

But i recomend that u get the warrenty for ur HDD if u can. Coz if it can solves the broblem for now but It may make troubles often in future ,

there shuld be drivers that you shuldve installed on the hard drive plus i dont think that dell systems supports fujitsu hd.
anyways just re install the os on the new hard drive and every thing shuld be taken care of by it self but if it don't e mail me w more details
