I have both an HP and a Dell... Dell works far better and breaks down less often. Dell support is a H**L of a lot better than HP considering HP has outsourced the help and support side of it over in India and if you ever have to call for support, 1. you cant understand what the hell they are saying, 2. you have to pay for it (telephone support or otherwise) if your warranty is out or not.

HPs suck, Dells dont suck as much, Alienwares rule

From my past experience, I would go with a Dell any day of the week. I have had every kind of HP product (laptop, desktop, printer, camera) and everyone of them has failed on me. All of them have broken down on me about a month after the warranty is up. I have had a Dell for work and it is the best computer i have ever had. I also have a Dell desktop at home and the performance is outstanding. Even though their support is difficult at times, Dell's is still much better then HP's.

HP Compaq is a poor choice. The cost of repairs, versus the time for the repair to be done is maddening. On the other hand Dell offers a great product at a reasonable price, and they stand behind it 100%. I used to think that HP/Compaq were great until I owned one of each and found that is not the case. My Compaq 1200 needed a part, though they could not identify that part, so I got a lot of ones that were not right. My Dell needed a similar part, and they identified it, as well as shipped it within the same week. Compaq cost me $700.00 plus $300 in parts I could not use, Dell cost me $400, and never another headache or cost. I highly recommend Dell. As well, as a repair technician, Dell are in my shop a lot less than any HP/Compaq, and cost my customers less for repairs, because I do not purchase parts that do not fix the problems at hand. Hope this helps

Dell is alot better, because of the warranty is better, hp are hopeless, I knew a guy with a hp laptop, when he got the laptop it did not come with anything, not even the OS disc's, then the hard drive stopped working and it was under warranty, but becaue it never came with a OS it would cost him more to by XP instead of a hard drive.

Dell is better than a HP, especially the new Dell labtop that looke like a suitcase. Beware, for Dell, if you cann the maintainence for Dell, they take at least 2 weeks before they call someone to come to fix your computer. Anyway, Dell you can customize it anyway you want, i dont think HP can do that.

I prefer HP. I like the designs of their laptops over Dell's designs.

Both manufactures have their "top of the line" models and their "Lower end" models, all depending on your wants and needs. If the programs and games that you use are demanding when it comes to "Memory" and such, just make sure you're purchasing a machine that will meet those needs. As with most products, You get what you pay for. Also, be sure to consider the length of warrenty time, services, etc. Great Question. Larry at Radio Shack 01-9590

Dell has better warranty. They will allow you to send them back and have it replaced if they can't fix it. Get atleast a 2 or 3 year warranty cause trust me computer break.
