I'll be runnig AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CosmosWorks, but not really intensively, also ocationally the sims MS Flight Simulator (if ever), C&C.
Should I go for the HP's graphics or get more features with Toshibas.
HP's processor is a 32bit Core Duo while Toshibas' are 64bit Core 2 Duo. Will I note the Diff?
HDD: HP 5400RPM vs. Toshiba 4200RPM (but MUCH BIGGER)
RAM: HP 667MHz vs. Toshiba 533MHz (but Double the RAM)
Display: which one is better HPs or Toshiba's?
Sound: Altec Lansing vs. Harma/Kardon??

HP also has bluetooth and TV tuner, not must-haves but nice features

Will the HP 32bit processor handle well the Windows Vista which I'm definitely updating to?
Will the Toshiba Integrated Graphics handle well the Windows Vista which I'm definitely updating to?

Which is better between both toshibas for a desktop replacement? I don't mind weight when I carry it around nor bulkyness since I'm pretty built.

How slow is a 4200RPM HDD compared to a 5400RPM one?

Well, If I were you I wouldn't buy a laptop for dedicated CAD and 3D modeling use, but thats up to you to decide. I would go with Toshiba. I've got a Toshiba Satellite A100 Intel core duo 2GHz, 2GB Ram...... which is basically the same as the A105 except its custom and not mass produced (indicated by the 5 at the end of 105)
Try going to Toshiba Direct and customizing to what you want, you have no obligation to buy and the price changes to reflect what you have indicated you want.

It seems like the A105s you have listed have 5200 RPM HDDs which is rather slow!

Yes, 32 bit processors will be compatible with Windows Vista. Get maximum memory, upgrade later is possible, to handle it.

I know newegg.com is good for overseas purchases, but I don't know if the other two I listed allow the shipping option. I really can't give much advice in that aspect.

You can use this excellent resource to compare new and old hard drive performance and reliability.

impressive question. All 3 are strong laptops. Heres the execs and cons of each... Sony: execs great all round computing gadget fairly strong construct this is like a Mercedez, nicely-favourite sort Cons frequently the specs are slightly previous pricy like a Mercedez, needs a good number of maitence :) troublesome to get help HP execs a lot extra effective construct actual looking fee lasts a lengthy time period Cons troublesome to locate one with the precise specs your searching for Toshiba execs Made to artwork great useful factors Cons Very buisness-like layout maximum have very flimsy keyboards In all honesty i might want to bypass with the HP. chuffed buying!

There is only one word I needed to see :

AutoCad

None of those units have a powerful enough graphic card to suitably run the full version of AutoCad.

Definitely look for a 17" screen & 2GB od RAM, but you must also include a high end video card with at least 256MB of onboard memory (not shared).

Look at what the Sony Vaio lineup has to offer in your area. They have phenominal graphic capabilities.
