Why did computers used to be hard to use? Someone told me that you had to do it all by keyboard or in html or something. The old apple computers?

I have a Dell Inspiron B120 notebook. The d-drive always worked perfectly until the last month. First, the computer was unable to read and cds. Now it seems that it can read them if i hold the "door" of the cd rom drive in. But it does not come up anywhwere in my computer and in My Computer it does not show that i even have a d-drive anymore. can someone please help!? but i am terrible with computers, so you are going to have to use simple ezxplinations. haha. well, thanks in advance!

I have a Dell B130. I know it's a crappy so I do not need to be reminded. But there are four lights on the front of my laptop and the third light blinks orange. Since this has been blinking my laptop will not run on it's battery. Every time I unplug it, it turns off and it has never done that till recently. I have gone to my preferences and it says that it is set to run on battery but doesn't. How do I change it or what does that light mean? please help, this is really annoying.

I'm joining the military soon, and I will be on the road alot. So instead of a pc I'm just going to get a laptop. I want something with a really strong graphics card, a fast processer, and a good longlasting battery that has an awsome bright screen moniter. I have decided on getting one of these, please tell me which one you would choose and elaborate on why. Thank you.

Is T5600, 1.8Ghz really that much faster than T5500, 1.66Ghz?
and would RAM make a difference in speed as well? ie, 1GB vs. 2GB?

About a year ago, I noticed my roommate's old iBook smelled really bad, like B.O. It was so strong you could tell as soon as it was open.

Now, I'm noticing the same smell starting to come from mine! It's so nasty - kinda like melting plastic, only also like B.O. My iBook is about 6 years old. Anyone else with this problem?

I have an HP zd8000 laptop about 7 months old now. Around 2 months ago my cd/dvd drive just went out. The drive couldnt be read by my computer. So my friend did somthing in the registry and everything seemed to work fine, i could play cd's and all but nothing can be burned. When i put a blank disk into the drive , the computer doesnt recognize it and just says that the drive cannot be accessed. i dont know wat to do, how can i fix this.

oh just for refrence, i have an - matshita uj-840d

My computer is an Inspiron 1000 with 4 GB's left on the hard drive. The ram is 256 MB and has a 2.20 GHZ Intel Celeron processor.

Got myself a new laptop "acer 5051" last week and it keeps randomly switching off. When i go to switch it back on the power lights come on for 2 secs then go straight off again. This happens whilst on mains and battery power.
If i leave it for a few hours then it will sometimes come back on.
I am an IT Technician and think this could be a component overheating but just wanted a second opinion before having to send it back.

Can someone please help me understand the difference between these two processors?

I am planning to buy a DELL Notebook and I have short listed two of them. The price difference is $250.

The costlier one has T5500 & only 14" screen as compared to the other one which has T2050 and Wider 15.4" screen.

I dont understand what is the difference between the two processors and to what extent will it impact the performance of the system.

The DELL promotion will end tomorrow so its a bit quick - sorry for being on such a short time line.

ever since i got dsl on my laptop everything went wrong. i can't click on any of my icons. i can't do anything. i took it back to where i got it from and they said the only thing to do is reformat it which cost $150. i am trying to avoid that. is that the only way to take care of my problem. reformating.

usually the light goes green then the computer comes on, but nothing happened. i switched it off at the wall, switched it back on and now even the orange light wont come on. Any idea what can be causing it? it is plugged into a power surge extension.

My husband is wanting to buy me a laptop computer but I don't know for sure if I want one. Other than being small, I can carry it around with me and there are no wires to plug in. What else is good about them? The one I am on now is a desktop.
