I just want a reliable PC that allows me to use Internet safelly, use messenger and if I need to, be able to use MS Office applications. Does the MacBook fit those requirements?

After 4 years as an advanced Windows XP user, I bought a Mac last month. Do it. Everything works. No drivers needed. MacBook Dual Core. 1GB RAM, 120GB HD (laptop), DVD Burner, WiFi, built-in webcam and mic, etc. Try it, you'll like it. You've already tried PC. Forget about updates, compatability, virus, spyware, scans, etc. Go Mac and you'll never look back, cuz you can run Windows (legally) on a Mac. Try Apple.com for anything you need to know about it once you get one. Also Mac Podcasts in iTunes.

AdamINK, you are perfectly right...D-Fresh, you're a PC fan, it works the same way for the oblivious masses like you...the MacBook can not only run Microsoft Office, but can run it more efficiently than Windows' runs it...Mac is truly the way to go...no programs randomly shutting down, no CTRL-ALT-DEL =), no viruses, spyware, malware, worms, popups, etc....OS X could have been put out years ago before XP and would have been better than XP and Vista, OS X Tiger is years ahead of its time...Vista is a nice, Windows version of Mac, proving Windows inability of ingenuity...
to answer your question, Mac will not only run MS Office applications better than Windows, but will offer MS Office apps. more efficiently with better looks and is safer in a thousand different aspects than Windows...bottom line, DO IT, get the Mac you won't be disappointed =)

I have always been a PC person, but I recently bought a macbook. While not good for games, it works amazing well for everything else. Switching was quite easy. If you are willing to switch to OS X and spend a bit more money, you will like it.

yeah, Macs can use Microsoft Office and Messenger.....also macs are less susceptible to getting viruses. So buying a Macbook would be a smart investment.

Oh and Mac OSX is years ahead of windows...(you PC users think Vista is going to be new and innovative, well to bad its just a rip-off of OSX)

MacBooks do, but stay with PC. Contrary to public belief, PC's are often less expensive and more powerful. (Any mac fan will try to say that the tests are different and that they're faster, but they're mac fans...........)
