i would like to get a laptop but i was wondering if there was a way to hook up the internet from my phone to run the internet for the laptop.

Yes, you can but these are very expensive options. 3G and GPRS phones
allow you to do that. You pay per usage. Only if you are very mobile and have real uses for this.

If not go for wireless Internet, you need a adapter you plug into your phone.
Service may not be available in your country or area.

If at home just get a router with wireless built in and get a wireless USB for your notebook. However most notebooks come with builtin wireless LAN.

If you don't want to pay ridiculous cellphone rates, visit Starbucks wherever you go, or get TMobile HotSpot Service, which also works in a lot of McDs.

There is, through Bluetooth. Make sure you get a phone that can do this (it's usually called "tethering"), and get a Bluetooth adaptor for your laptop if it doesn't already have one.
