Its a fairly good Desktop PC+LCD Monitor+Printer/Scanner+Speakers+Woofer. I'm most concerned about the PC+Monitor, since they're the most expensive/worthwhile things

I just picked up a FSP 300 watt power supply (FSP300-60THN) for a great price and want to be sure if it is ok for an AMD 64 system running at 2.4 GHz. Fortron power supplies are great quality but I am concerned about the spit on the 12v rail with only 8 amps on the 12v1 and 14 amps on the 12v2. Yes that is 22 amps total but I am not sure if it is a true dual rail or a fake one with a 20 amp limit. If the 8 amps is for the drives and board then you could easily over draw that but if there really is no 8 amp limit then it should be fine.

I'm unsure if i should bring my cd for windows to the computer store as I don't want it to be used for eligal copies. will I need to contact microsoft to pass activation because my hardware will change. Or am I just mistaken how activation works.

My very frugal 64 year old mother would like to get a computer. She will use it for internet only. What brand do you recommend and what basic system requirements should last her a few years without having to upgrade? Are most new systems upgradeable?

Intel Core 2 Duo's have 2MB or 4MB Cache VS AMD's Athlon 64X2 which only has 512 or 1 MB. Also Intel has a FSB of 1065MHZ vs AMD FSB of 1800 MHZ (or something close to this). This question is meant for the desktops processors only.

I hooked it up correctly. It's showing up in BIOS as a recognized drive and it's coming up as a device in the Device Manager. However, it's not showing up as a drive in My Computer. Isn't accessable from DOS either. I'm at wits end, i plugged it into SATA4 so I wouldn't need a terminator. How can I get it to show up.

I've attached the data and power cord, the drive shows up on my BIOS and my Device Manager. However, it doesn't show up as a device in My Computer. Can't access it on DOS either. The drivers show as installed (and i reinstalled them to check), and there are no errors/conflicts with the drive. How can I get this thing to show up?

I want to build using the AM2 platform. Should i go with with the FX-60, or should I wait till the price lowers and get an X2 series processor? I realistically would only like to spend around $200, MAYBE $250. But if i get a huge performance gain using one over another, maybe it might be worth the extra money.

does it matter what the brand of the computer is? for example if 2 computers were the exact same everything. the only differnce was that one was dell and one was hp would it matter which one you chose? or does it truley matter on what inside the computer?

and my second questions what company are out there that make computers?

dell
hp
gateway
emachines
.....any more??

even if its a crtappy compny if that firs question is answered and the brand donst matter id rather go with a crappy brand that has everything the good brands have but for cheaper
