sounds like a power supply problem. if you wish to test the power supply unplug everying that is hooked up to the power supply and on the atx connector cross over the green wire with one of the black wires and the fan on the power supply should turn on if it doesnt turn on then the power supply is bad

On the back of your power supply, where you plug in the power cable, there is a switch. Make sure that switch is turned on. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you probably have a bad power supply. Since you are using an emachines computer, it may use a proprietary Power supply, so you should call them and ask what type of replacement you will need.

Most likely it's you power supply the thing that the power cord goes into. For some reason Emachines Power Supply are bad about going out. I have seen alot go bad. Hope this helps you.

Yes the older eMachines used to have a bad problem with Pwer Supplies. If it doesn't work and just suddenly stopped working with no apparent reason...it probably is the power supply.
Aso if it is a fuse problem you can buy them very cheaply.
First you only need to take the power supply out. (Detaching all power cables of course)
See if it has a fuse.
IF it does you can pick em up very cheaply at any store that sells fuses such as radio shack. Just take your fuse with you they will do the rest.

A lot of the eMachines had capaciters that had a maximum current flow that was too low for the comp to run properly. Make sure that the capaciters (little cylindrical black things out from the motherboard) are not bulging. If they are that means you need to get a new motherboard.
