We have a Macintosh which we have files on from the past few years of work. These files are mainly text documents and databases. I am wondering what the most efficient way to transfer files from that Mac to a Windows PC would be. I would prefer a way that would be quick, like taking the hard drive out of the Mac (if possible) and directly transferring some how, or transferring the files over a LAN. Any methods/suggestions are welcome, though.

Hey guys and gals, have a problem. I was trying to repartition my brother's drive last night so I booted from the XP disk and accidentally removed my partition off my E: drive which is my removeable hard drive. It had all my pics on it which I have to somehow get back otherwise my wife will... anyway when I try to view the drive it says not formatted so I tried Partition Magic to undelete the deleted partition but it doesn't see it as a deleted partition, Paragon Partition, R-Undelete, WinUndelete etc etc. The partition programs don't see a deleted partition and the undelete programs say the file system is corrupt. Any idea how I can get the data off this drive? Do I have to re-undelete the partition? Do I have to format it and then try for data recovery? Any ideas would be appreciated as I'm out of ideas now.

Thanks in advance...
Matt

Lets say you repair IBM compatible computers—Gateway, Dell, Compaq, and Pavilion. What do you do if you come across an Apple computer? Are there software and hardware differences then an IBM compatible computer?

I am trying to install onto my computer some movie sound clips, for at least: when i get a email, and opening desktop

i want: "You have a new message" from 2001 and "Shall we play a game" from War games

however when i go into control panel and then into the sound effects, i tell it to use my clip but it still plays the window's default

i have saved it under a new file and have deleted the default.

How can i make sure it plays what i want it to?

I use Microsoft XP. I am aware that hardware and software exists (sometimes sold together, sometimes separately) with which I can back up my entire computer -- OS, registries, bookmarks, docs, etc. This interests me because I'd rather not have to restore it program by program from original disks-- first the operating system, then all the applications I run. I have dozens of applications that I use regularly, and it would take days to restore everything and troubleshoot until I have them all working together.

I am very careful with security and have firewalls, spybot stoppers, anti-virus, etc. Still, you never know when it will crash and you have to restore from scratch. I probably need > 100 GB.

Please tell me what you use and what you like about it. I don't care if it's a little slow; I want something that is fairly seamless and straightforward. I am willing to work awhile with the setup, but after that's established I want the backup and restore to be easy.

Thanks!

also when you activted some programs it would run sound files.

I would love to install "shall we play a game" into as my desktop opens. from "Wargames".

how do you set that up? i'm sure i could find the sound byte just need to know how to set it up.

After that my computer takes 20 min in boot windows (blue bar) and my desktop is freeze. I tried in secure mode, back to previous system, etc (F8) but it takes the same and then the computer restarts!! Help!!!. (Pentium 4, 3.0, 1gb R, 512 V, 300 Gb HDD).

I was wondering if a 160 watt power supply would be enough to power a p4 with 384 mb of ram and a DVD-RW drive 1.44 floppy disk drive modem video card 32mb nvidia geforce2 mx200 video card. I was thinking about slapping a 300 watt power supply in it.
that model number is a 500LTD S/N 0025171229 I'm guess it the power supply that is in it right now the 160 watt would = a 240 watt maybe i'm wrong.
