Macintosh, definitely.

Note that you will want plenty of RAM and drive space in the laptop (MacBook Pro) or desktop (iMac or Mac Pro) itself.

You will also need a large external hard drive to off-load files you will not be using immediately (since you will want to use the Mac's editing and burning software at its fastest speed, you'll want lots of free (buffer) space on the internal drive).

Besides the site(s) mentioned, here are guidelines to help you.

First, the PC. You need to always make sure the PC you purchase will be able to upgrade for a couple of years to change with new technologies. You should get the best Graphics Card you can afford. Be aware they can cost $600 or more. You need to make sure you are using DDR2 RAM, as that is the new standard. You may want to go with a Dual-core Processor to help with the editing and publishing. It will help greatly.

For your use, the main components you will need are the CPU (dual-core), 2 GB DDR2 RAM and a really good Video Card.

Now the Mac. Macs are made for editing and publishing. With a Mac, you mainly need to make sure you can get the most RAM you can afford. Just make sure it's one that can upgrade with the times for Macs. Ask the retailer all the question you can to make the best purchase.

Based on your needs I would say buy a Mac and get the most RAM, best video card, and biggest harddrive space you can afford to get. I use the 20 inch iMac (http://www.apple.com/imac/). It is great, very easy to use, and already comes with the software that lets you edit video and create music. You would have to buy a separate application to edit graphics but you would have to do that anyway if you were buying a PC. Even better is the newer Macs can run Windows if you need to.

Only two factors I see why not to buy a Mac:
1. Too expensive.
2. Not enough games for it.

PCs will have a greater selection of software to use.
If you go with a PC then you should look for:
Processor: Pentium 4 (at least 3 Ghz or higher)
RAM: 1 GB (at least)
Hard Drive: 250GB or more
Graphics: card with at least 256mb (no shared memory!)

Everything else doesn't really matter much unless you want surround sound then you may want to look into getting a high-end sound card as well.

Pentium 4's are great for video and photo editing, rather than AMD's which are used mainly for gaming purposes.

you should look for a computing apliance that is able to do graphics publishing and video editing and of course it must have the ability to connect to the internet. That is what you should look for.
