Scan for and remove viruses - use any of the major anti-virus programs available. For a few dollars, they provide good protection. Be sure you download any updates to the program, and also the latest virus definitions. Set up the program to scan your whole system automatically at least a couple of times a week. Daily is preferred.

Run the anti-spyware programs, too. Ad-aware has a free download, so does Spybot, I think. Be sure you download the latest spyware definitions first. Scan it at least once a week.

Defrag again. It can sometimes take 2-3 passes to really clean up the structure of the data on the hard drive. Do a defrag routinely, say once a month.

Buy more memory. You can do this at most electronic or computer stores, or get it online. I've given you a link below for one that I've used, and had very good luck with. I am not an owner, nor do I work for this company. I'm just a satisfied customer. There are other places than this one, of course, so where you go is up to you. Consider getting an anti-static strap when you do install the memory, though. These chips can be sensitive to static charges, and you don't want to toast one before you even power the machine back up.

uninstall the program that you do not need anymore. delete temporary files, use disc clean up. scan for virus and spyware/malware.
or you can reformat your drive and make a fresh copy of your windows.

There are ways to reset your comp. to factory settings. Check online. Assuming you can stand losing all the stuff you installed on it, and knowing you can get it back anytime.
