I bought a case thats says it has 2 USB 2.0 ports in the front but when I got everything set up I connected a Hi speed device to it and on Windows it says that this device should be connected to a high speed port.
Since the case has the Usb 2.0 ports does that mean that my motherboard does not support Usb 2.0?

I need to know if it would help to reinstall Windows to correct the problems: 1, Everything is very slow, but I can't scan the hard discs or defragment. Also, I can't copy and paste into a Word document. 2. Another problem is when I try to watch a web site video, it only runs for a few seconds, then stops until it downloads another few seconds. 3. The computer keeps freezing and I have to soft-boot.

If reinstalling Windows will help, will I lose my files and documents already saved into folders. Will I lose software downloads that I bought?

If not, and I do reinstall Windows 98, which I have now, should I do the download first and then delete the old one, or vice versa?

If I download Windows 2000 instead, will all my documents, etc., work all right?

I hope someone can help, as I'm sure that if I can use the computer maintenance programs, I could speed it up.
Also, my computer repairman doesn't like Norton and said to take it off. Does anyone have an alternative?

I am buying AVID editing software for film and need something that will perform well. Also, anyone have ideas of what company makes a good computer package? Thanks for the help

Eager to reward my daughter for her good school grades, we gave her a brand new laptop which works great and also a brand new There lies the problem. I saw INTEL 3.2 GHz and went for it to only to find that the stupid PC is USELESSLY slow. I do mean USELESS.... Absolutely useless. It takes ages to do anything !! It is an INTEL 'Cerelon' and came with only 256 of memory and so my question is: Will the installation of 1GB of memory bring the PC to normal speed ? Will it solve the problem ? Any advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks you. The model of the PC is "HP Pavillion a1507.uk" -- Thanks again

My configuration is as follows:
512 mb ram (3 years warranty), 160 gb hard drive (sea gate) (3 years warranty) with intel dual core processor 2.8 Ghz, 945 GLL, sony FDD, 17 inch crt color monitor(samsung), ATX cabinet with free chair, table, webcam, and HP printer.
All with 1 year onsite warranty.

The shopkeeper is saying the cost to be 30,000 without any software installed.

Please tell me whether is it worthy to give 30,000 for this configuration.

I am a BCA student with less knowledge about the hardware.

I am looking to do some online parttime jobs hence i need internet connection.

So suggest me a better configuration and whether is it worthy to give 30,000 for this system.

I accidently erased the sound out of the PC. I thought I was loosening up the hard drive a little by erasing some of the programs that weren't needed but I ended up deleting something that was tied into the volume properties. Can anyone point me towards the light at the end of the tunnel?

I have an HP Deskjet 3930. I've already went online and downloaded a driver for the 3900 series and it still doesn't show. I tried to install it manually and the 3900s are not there, there are other deskjet series, but not mine. I have a booched copy of Windows, would that be part of my problem and if so, is there a way to get around it?
THANK YOU to anyone who's got a way to fox this.
