I have an HP Deskjet 3930. I've already went online and downloaded a driver for the 3900 series and it still doesn't show. I tried to install it manually and the 3900s are not there, there are other deskjet series, but not mine. I have a booched copy of Windows, would that be part of my problem and if so, is there a way to get around it?
THANK YOU to anyone who's got a way to fox this.

open your add and remove program find your printer and remove it then shut down. Start your computer and reload your printer. Shut down again and then restart your computer should now recognize your printer

Here is what you do to restore the bootched copy of windows.

You go to ALL PROGRAMS, then click PC HELP & TOOLS. Go to the RECOVERY and do a complete recovery. This will reformat your computer and set it back to the manufacturer's settings. This may fix any screwups you have in the Windows programs. But I did not understand if you had windows 98 on your computer before then you loaded up XP illegally or what.

ANYWAY, just do the Recovery. Then after that you should have no problems. If you do, email me with your computer brand and model, and what OS system you have on it. Then I can get you rolling again.

If that's nevertheless not operating, attempt a clean cable between the printer and the comp.

I would delete all the other printers that are there, delete all printer-related software in the Add/Remove programs list. Then try to reconnect the printer.

Assuming that it has a USB connection, what happenes when you plug it into the computer? Does it even notice that you have plugged it in?

Is this a USB or Parallel port printer. If you go to device manager and detect new devices and it doesn't show - the problem probably isn't the printer driver. Sometimes parallel port drivers aren't installed on certain motherboards.
