If I purchase a Motherboard with the DDR2 533 Standard, will I be able to Utilize DDR2 677 Ram? Or will I need to purchase the DDR2 533? The processor involved would be a Pentium D 2.8 Presler, and a Biostar Motherboard Socket 775.

I decided to add some more ram to my dell computer. Its a pentium 4. 2400 series. Found what I thought was appropriate ram card on e-bay, and put in a bid. After I placed bid, seller added more information...saying it was a low density ram. Can you tell me what low density means? ( Yep u r right..I am comp. hardware ignorant!) I really need to know if it will still be compatible.

There are two computers I have seen which look good, either:

1. Dell Dimension E520, with AMD Athlon 64 X" Dual-Core Processor 5000+ and 256MB ATI RADEON X1300 Pro Graphics Card for €929

or

2. Dell Dimension E520 with Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300(1.86GHz, 2mb Cache, 1066 MHz FSB) and 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300LE Turbocache graphics card for €1064

Everything else is exactly the same, so which one is better?

I have seen many that are P4 512MB over 2 GHZ and have at least 60 GB harddrives for right around 300 secondhand. The RAM can later be upgraded to even 2 GB and an external harddrive can be used if needed for storage. I have an older P4 1.8 GHZ machine running XP Pro with only 256 MB RAM and all applications run very fast. I do not use this for games or other graphics intense programs anyway.

I will go to Vista when the first service pack is released and they work out any bugs in the new upgrade software. Initial cost of the machine should be under $300 but I am willing to spend more later to upgrade. What make and model is the best for this? In other words, value and quailty hardware.

I am currently running Windows Vista. In the Bios and the cpu test it shows that I have a 5200+. Infact eveywhere I look on the system it shows up as a 5200 with all of the specs. The only place that I can see that it is a 5000+ is under device manager.

What processor do I have? How do I update the driver to show in the device manager that is a 5200?
Please help

I found out my computer is a Socket A (462). I was told by the manufacturer of my computer (Hp/Compaq) that A motherboards are compatible with Processors up to Athlon 64. I am unable to find many motherboards for Socket A to begin with, let alone ones that say they are compatible with Athlon 64. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I currently have a A7VBX-LA Motherboard, Athlon Xp 3000+ 2.17ghz processor, and 1 GB of Ram. I do seek to play the game medieval 2 total war (Im upgrading the graphics card as soon as i upgrade the processor and motherboard).
