Click Start
Click Run
Type "msconfig" in the Open field
Click OK
first look on the startup tab
un-check anything you like, all these things startup with windows
You may be able to tell what they are from the name or from the path in the command. It will give you the path to the program that runs
next check the services tab
place a check in the box at the bottom labeled hide all microsoft services. un-check anything you like, all these things startup with windows
After doing this you may be missing icons from the start bar, or notice some programs starting slower. You can use MSconfig to put them back, by re-checking the box.
Some notable badguys are
Qtask (quicktime updater)
Adobe Reader Speed Launch
itunes helper
realplay and realsched (realplayer)
Office Startup
Indexing service (actually part of windows)
HP and Canon camera and printer apps (complete waste of resources)

1.Run "Disk CleanUp". Go to Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup. Select C: and clean up all unnecessary files.
2.Go to Start > Run. Type "MSConfig" and open the "Startup" tab of the new window. Uncheck everything that is not related to computer security.
3.Do a Disk Defragment once in a while. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Defragment. Defragment your C:. It takes a lot of time.

Firstly defragmented your hard drive, then delete all your temporary Internet files, from the tool menu on Internet explorer. Then you go to start, control panel add/delete programs. It will give you then all the programs on your PC. It will tell you what programs have been used regularly. The programs you don`t need can then be deleted or uninstalled over there. Hope this help?

to change your startup options go to start -> run -> msconfig
and then press enter. then go to the tab "Startup" and unselect anything you dont want. In reality if you are hard wired to the internet you might not even need any of the programs! but look for names you recognize and want to keep at startup. Remember things such as instant messenger systems can always be turned on manually so those are things to watch out for. If you are unsure about something you may just unclick it, the startup list is harmless

Check for unneeded programs on ur system, also delete the un necessary piled up games, also the temporary internet folder, apart of this try defrag and disk clean up, this all will result in enough free space on ur system and then the system will work fine, also check for multiple antivirus software as it eats up the speed most.
Also check ur startup folder and delete the unwanted start up programs.

Try startupmechanic, It will allow you to disabled stuff that starts up when you login to windows.
Startupmechanic is probably the easiest program to use and its free. Everything in the program is very self explanatory no need to read any help files or anything else.
