How to make a server out of an old comp?

how do u build ur own server out of an old computer
also this is just any empty case with amotherboard and a battery pack so what would i need to by and put in the computer also im not sure if the motherboard is any gooood

can i put a server on the computer that im using now and still use it for windows xp

You can make any running computer a server. Make sure it has a decent size hard drive and a network card.

Set up a home network using windows xp and share a drive or folder over the network.
