I accidently erased the sound out of the PC. I thought I was loosening up the hard drive a little by erasing some of the programs that weren't needed but I ended up deleting something that was tied into the volume properties. Can anyone point me towards the light at the end of the tunnel?

You need to reinstall the drivers for your sound card, these can generally be downloaded from the manufacturers website but we'll need to know the make/model of your machine or, preferably, the make/model of your actual sound card to point you in the right direction.

Okey i'll try
i think there is two ways:
1. you can try system restore to restore the the system to any point in the past i mean near past.

2.you can use the CDs that you got when you bought this computer or if you dont have it can go on the web and look for these data on your computer company i mean "the motherboard comany or the voice deivec copany" that if that computer was stolen (i was joking) if you got these data install it (its not order) and every thing will be ok
see ya..

If you're running XP, it may still be in your recycle bin. Failing, that, you should be able to use System Restore to take it back to a time when it all worked (you HAVE created restore points, haven't you?)

Failing all this, go to your card manufacturers' website & download the driver.

Does your OS have anything refering to "restore" or "restore date"? I've found over the years that when all else fails you can always reload windows or whatever OS your using and it will find and install the default settings for your comp.

You would need to go to the manufacturers website and download the drivers for your soundcard.

Go to support and downloads and there should be a fairly straight-forward way to get to the drivers you need.
