I suggest you increase the size of your PC's virtual memory: click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Performance.

This is an excerpt from the link I include below on setting performance options in XP:

"To have Windows select the best paging file size, click System managed size. The recommended minimum size is equivalent to 1.5 times the RAM on your computer, and 3 times that figure for the maximum size. For example, if you have 256 MB of RAM, the minimum size is 384 MB, and the maximum size is 1152 MB"

Basically you are consuming more memory than you have combined from physical (the "real" memory card in the computer) and the virtual (the disk based memory - slower than physical memory but allows greater amounts of "memory" at a lower cost). If you regularly get this message, consider increasing the amount of disk space used for virtual memory per the instructions in the link or look for memory that you can install (the cost has come way down from a few years ago so having 512 MB is common, 1 GB or more is not unusual.

virtual memory is jsut a space on your hard drive that your computer uses as if it were RAM, This can be adjusted to any size you want. If you type into your web browser address bar " how to adjust virtual memory" it will take you to several places on the net where it will guide you through how to make the adjustment. This is quite simple to do but only had to do it once & it was ages ago so I cant remember the procedure of the top of my head.. hope this is of some help..
good luck

While you could increase your computer's limitations on virtual memory, you shouldn't ever have to do this unless you decreased it from the default. The more virtual memory that your computer uses, the slower it will run.

More likely than not, if you find yourself needing more virtual memory, you should look into purchasing more physical memory (RAM).

Unless you are running specialist graphics or programming language low virtual memory is invariably caused by having too many applications open at once. You have three choices. 1. Add more memory to your machine. 2. Increase virtual memory which will involve more swapping to disk and slowing things down whilst memory paging goes on betweed the HD and main memory. 3. Restrict yourself to only having two or three applications open at once (how many can you use simultaneously after all?).
