I want to buy a new desktop PC that is capable of running complex software like ‘Poser’ and other digital art design programs, that can also run software that can be used to record and edit live music, store plenty of MP3s, and cope with a few up-to-date games.

I’m currently rather captivated by the idea of owning an Alienware computer, but don’t really know if that’s maybe going a bit too far. I want a piece of kit that looks nice and can cope with running the software I want to use.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

What do you think of the price and the quality of their computers? Did you ever had any problems with them? If yes, were you satisfied with their customer service? Do you recommend computers from Dell? Is there any other retailer better than Dell price and performance wise? Other comments and opinions might be helpful. Thank you.

I want to buy a AMD 64 BIT Duel core processor and an Asus Motherboard maxed out on ram running 4 133ATA Sata drives for data processing and the XP pro Operating system on a 120 gig IDE Drive, Running with a ATI video capture card HIDIF with 512 megs of ram on board and a sound blaster audio card, will my hard drives still be slowing me down when I want to capture video with a fire wire device and edit and finalize in Adobe Premiere Pro?

My young son pulled out the CD tray all the way so that it is disconnected from the computer. It feels as if I might break if I try to push it back in. Has anyone done this successfully?

I have an HP BG843 computer. The exact computer I have can be found in the link below. I had Windows 95 on the computer and just today I updated to 98se. All is well and I am online with this computer but my resolution cannot be set above 640x480. I've already tried restarting in safe mode and changing the resolution but the slider will not budge.

I think I know the problem although I know I may be wrong. Apparently after my update, my current graphics card is not being recognized because I don't have the right drivers. According to the website below my computer has an Integrated Intel Direct 3-D graphics card (Intel 810 chipset ) but my device manager is showing my display adapter as: Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)...obviously giving me no other option other than 640x480 res. I downloaded drivers for the 810 from the Intel site and ran the set up which enables inf support for chipset devices and rebooted but nothing. How can I get my new OS to recognize my Graphics card?

I'm pretty sure it's the motherboard that is not working, but I wanna double-check. If it's the the motherboard, I'm just gonna buy a new desktop b/c I've had this machine for 6 years already.

I was thinking I should not bring in the computer b/c I'd rather save that part of my money to go spend on the new machine.

But then again, I'm not !00% sure it's the motherboard, so I'm curious how much it's if I bring in to Best Buy. I wanna know the approximate cost, that way I can decide whether it's worth it.

Thank you!

I have a sony vaio computer. It has a Sony DVD RW DW-U18A dvd/cd burner driver in it when I bought the comp. When I try to open the disc tray, it doesnt open unless I stick a paperclip in the tiny hole. Also, when I click on the dvd drive in my computer, it causes my computer to be really slow. When I finally get it to open, it says that there are no blank cd in the drive. I have another computer and it has this same exact problem. I really would like to backup my file. What can I do to fix my dvdrw drive?

I need to move all my photos off my home PC. I don't want just an external hard drive. What if that fails? Is there a RAID'd exteral drive, or what method can I use to ensure I don't lose files to a failed drive? I don't want to back up to a CD. Home use, reasonalble cost. Thanks

I was going to try and put this together in my spare time, and sell it for $499 to make a small profit. I am a full time college student trying to make a little extra $.

Do you think that is a fair price and would you buy it?

If I put a file on the trash and empty the trash does it mean that the file is erase from the computer. In other words it doesn't exist anymore, for example in a PC you would go to control panels and remove the file and automatically would be remove. So by putting the file to the trash and emptying the trash would automatically delete the file from the hardrive. I am a new user on Mac and need help.
