If I put a file on the trash and empty the trash does it mean that the file is erase from the computer. In other words it doesn't exist anymore, for example in a PC you would go to control panels and remove the file and automatically would be remove. So by putting the file to the trash and emptying the trash would automatically delete the file from the hardrive. I am a new user on Mac and need help.

no, just like windows the file headers are removed from the directory.

as on windows, the file is still on the disk.

and as on windows it can be retrieved with the appropriate utilities.

there is also a variant to securely empty the trash!

but few people would be able to go through your trash!

It's not completely erased if you just used the Empty Trash option. Using Secure Empty Trash erases the file more securely. If you want to help prevent recovery of deleted files, click on the Erase Fee Space button in Disk Utility after choosing your start up disk. This option will take a while to complete, so you must be patient with it, even if Disk Utility seems like it stalled. There will be an error that shows up that you should ignore.

Yawn, i circulate to label this troll and that i will bite besides. i've got been employing Mac's for the reason that day one and basically have been given one virus from a game disk we traded as young toddlers until now the internet became a gleam in some rocket scientists eye. on your recommendations anybody on any platform could be trojaned. particularly if somebody is going and runs a software from questionable materials with greater privileges. in case you do not comprehend the version between a trojan horse, an epidemic and a trojan perhaps you will possibly desire to do a sprint prognosis. there is not any reason for alarm, this text/software is a hundred% organic scareware. There are approximately 30 or so rootkits for OS X because it incredibly is now, yet there is little recommendations on the thank you to drop the payload right into a Mac because of the fact the Unix center of OS X is very shelter, only like Linux is. No Mac consumer with the aid of default runs with root point privileges. Smarter Mac purchasers run with even decrease privileges than that, as a everyday consumer, employing Admin basically for particular installs of courses or OS updates. The sudo window closes in seconds, why a trojan is the only way right into a Mac. If I had a $a million invoice for each "Mac's are gong to get malware" thoughts i might desire to purchase myself a crappy little iPad P.O.S. to work out if it would combination.
