I have a sony vaio computer. It has a Sony DVD RW DW-U18A dvd/cd burner driver in it when I bought the comp. When I try to open the disc tray, it doesnt open unless I stick a paperclip in the tiny hole. Also, when I click on the dvd drive in my computer, it causes my computer to be really slow. When I finally get it to open, it says that there are no blank cd in the drive. I have another computer and it has this same exact problem. I really would like to backup my file. What can I do to fix my dvdrw drive?

First Ur Disc u r using is really dusty and full of scratches.. The main reason to slow down the station and showing wrong results. And use blank disc to write data or rewritable disk only.

If everything is right then (how old ur drive is or ur system is?), it could be possible that ur drive has exausted. In this case buy a new drive.

Generally you cant fix a laptop cd drive. The parts arent available and they are too small to work on. What you are describing is a drive failure. I suggest getting a good used one from eBay
