I need to move all my photos off my home PC. I don't want just an external hard drive. What if that fails? Is there a RAID'd exteral drive, or what method can I use to ensure I don't lose files to a failed drive? I don't want to back up to a CD. Home use, reasonalble cost. Thanks

I could not agree more with the anonymous first answer :

Put them on CD or DVD & make many copies stored in different places.

Make 10 copies (costs you under $5) ... the odds of them all corrupting is more remote than you winning the lottery....the options are limited, my friend, & this is by far the best thing to do.

Go thumbdrive. Solid state memory seems to last much longer then HDD and to say the least about them, sent mine through the wash TWICE and it still works. By a thumbdrive, they're the best for long term and easy update.
