I have an HP BG843 computer. The exact computer I have can be found in the link below. I had Windows 95 on the computer and just today I updated to 98se. All is well and I am online with this computer but my resolution cannot be set above 640x480. I've already tried restarting in safe mode and changing the resolution but the slider will not budge.

I think I know the problem although I know I may be wrong. Apparently after my update, my current graphics card is not being recognized because I don't have the right drivers. According to the website below my computer has an Integrated Intel Direct 3-D graphics card (Intel 810 chipset ) but my device manager is showing my display adapter as: Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)...obviously giving me no other option other than 640x480 res. I downloaded drivers for the 810 from the Intel site and ran the set up which enables inf support for chipset devices and rebooted but nothing. How can I get my new OS to recognize my Graphics card?

You're definitely right about the problem being the graphics driver. 640x480 is the default max for the generic display driver in Windows 95/98.

Go to HP's website and get it (if your PC model is even out there). Search through any of the software that came bundled with the PC if you still have it.

Intel's graphic drivers should have worked, so make sure you are downloading the one for the correct version of Windows.

Windows 98 is no longer supported by microsoft, so you may encounter problems on that end. Look around the graphics card website for 98 compatible drivers, and talk to their tech support if you can't find any.

Try downloading the drivers from the HP Site instead of Intel Site.
