I own a Dell Dimension 4550 which had 512MB RAM, upgraded last week to 1GB with a 512MB module from Crucial.
When I installed the RAM (I installed the new module where the first module was and the existing module in the second slot as I was just working out how to fit RAM correctly and that's how it ended up), I booted up and verified the text alerting me to the new RAM and booted into XP (I dual boot with Ubuntu on master and XP on slave, GRUB handles the boot process and I set it up so that I can put XP back as master with no ill effect). But if I reboot (that is not the initial boot) I get greeted with 'Strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility'. F1 does nothing, and in setup utility my 80GB master seems to show up as 1125TB (it shows as 80GB when I check this on first boot); which is weird. But if I just turn off for 30mins and turn on again I can boot into Ubuntu/XP. What's happening here? I don't get it. It's annoying problem; I don't want to wait 30mins for a reboot! Help

After ruining my PC, I wanted to start from scratch and re-install windows. Now, I have the recovery CD. But when I put it on and starting my PC, it loads to where it won't work anymore (The Pick User screen) and just gets stuck there. (For anyone interested in how I messed up my PC, I switched the name of my C drive and my D drive.) My question is, how do I make this recovery CD work

Well, i need to drive an evaluation board consisting of Atmel's ATMEGA8L microcontroller. This evaluation board is driven from a computer through usb port and serial port, both. For that i have a usb connector (that connects through computer and my circuit) and a serial port (that connects through the serial port of the computer and the circuit) present at the back side of the PC's usually. In my PC, there is no serial port.. I have bought a usb-to-serial convertor cable, but i am still not able to drive that evaluation board through serial port as it helps in transmitting the data from computer to serial port of the circuit.. If somebody out there can me help me out in simulating the program from AVR studio4 software (a source editor) to Megaload ( that helps in simulating the ATMEGA8L IC)... Please help me out,, my email Id is rahul_bagai2006@yahoo.com, send me the friend request through yahoo messenger, to have a chat or to in solving my problem, who so ever has some idea..
