My computer is not that old maybe just about a year. I cant recall if it was doing it before or not but it sounds like the fan is going but it is really loud. Like a humming like sound. Like maybe the fan has dust or something on it? What is it?

I'm not sure if I've got a glitch, or if I've been hit with some spyware or minor virus. For some bizarre reason I no longer can change the image on my desktop.

If I right click, choose properties, and choose the desktop tab, all the background options have become inactive.

Has anyone come across this sort of problem, and know how to resolve it?

I've run adaware and nothing worked.

look, yesterday i was playing grand theft auto san andreas for PC, i pushed another button not use for playing it by accident, then it minimized the game, and then i had not start menu bar, i cant see the clock, the Blue Bar, nothing, now i cant minimize cause if i do, i wont get what i was doing, and if you ask me to check my start menu properties, dont, because i already tried and it wont work, i click the properties and it wont come out......PLEASE HELP!!! :-(

It's a two yr old computer and everything looks fine. I went away on vacations for a month and now that I am back it does not want to turn on at all. I have tried connecting it to a different wall power supply and it's the same. Monitor and all equipment around is on but computer does not come on. No sound of fans and no beeping neither. The last bad thing I knew about my computer was that the virtual memory was low due the pictures and music I have in it. Could that be the reason? It still had 60% of regular memory, but virtual memory was very low. Any ideas? Should I spend $$$$ fixing it? Or do U have another idea? HELP! I already checked cables, cords and all that and nothing works... What else can I do? No jokes please... I am very frustrated.

The other day my computer started hitching and running really slow. So i checked bios and the power fan speed was running @ like 700 rpm.. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be at around 2000 or so.. Also when i first turn on my computer it runs at like 300 and windows won't even start up. It'll start up once it's running at 700 though, but the max speed it goes is 1000 which it's running at right now. So is this a sign that my PSU is dying? Should i go ahead and order a new one? Thanks

our family computer is a multiprocessor computer and it lists it as having two 3hz P4 proc's. i dont know if that means that we have two processors on our motherboard or what. my mom doesnt want me to look inside it and the key that locks the case is long gone anyway. anyone know what is up?

I have an HP a1620y Pavilion computer that I want to buy more RAM for. There is currently 1 gig of DDR2-533Mhz SDRAM DIMM. One website said that HP uses RAM that is specific to their computer and you can't use other brands. If it is the same specification I don't know why it won't work. Can I use any RAM if it has these same specs?

I bought a Dell in September for the kiddies. They use it for schoolwork and games. It locks up about once or twice a week, and somehow the sound gets corrupted (and it definitely isn't the speakers!).

I've had to do a system restore about once every 10 days. Working with the DELL online and phone folks to remedy the problem makes me want to SCREAM!!

Geek Squad/Best Buy etc. won't do warranty work on it, even though DELL tells me I can take it there (since they can't seem to figure it out online or over the phone). All DELL wants to do is have me reboot, reboot, reboot, restore, restore, deinstall, reinstall, ARGH!

I want to take a sledgehammer to it (or send it back, but it's too late).

Does anyone know how to find a local DELL rep to talk to? Someone local I can use to help me get this taken care of? I know otherwise hell will have to freeze over before a tech will come out to my house.

How do you erase the memory from computer if I want to throw it out or give it away? I want to make sure everything, all my personal information and all deleted documents are really erased before I get rid of it.

If i put a 64MB no problem, if I put 128MB it shows as 64MB, if I put 256MB it shows as a 128. What can I do to solve this problem. I want to increase my memory on my "games" computer. The memory is PC 133. Its a Low speed PIII around 350 to 400MHz processor. I saw this also on a PII machine. Is the problem with BIOS.
