is there somthing that you can type in a word on somthing and have a computer say it outloud for you. I have seen them on mac computer. What are they called?

This featiure is standard in Microsoft Word 2003.

There is a way for this to happen. I have ventrillo it is a communication headset also if you were to make a phone call via the internet it would go through an operator to whom would speak from the computer and if you had ventrillo it would say the words to the operator for you

There are tons of programs that will do that. Word pad back in the day circa 1995 on PC used to do it and Apple's do, but there are tons of programs you can download that will do it.

There's a program called JAWS that people use. It makes the computer "talk." Many blind people use it, but I think Stephen Hawking and basically lots of people use it for various reasons. (There's other devices out there that do similar things, not sure which you're talking about.)

There is something like that for Windows PCs too. I got that software when i bought a voice recorder that connects to the computer via USB.

In Windows XP there is a narator program in Start- All Programs- Accessories- Accessibility- Narator. Don't know if this helps

I know they have language web sites that you type in a word in English and it will say the word back to you in the language of your choice.
