I'm planning to sell this computer and I'd like to have an idea of how much I have to ask for (in US dollars):
HP Pavilion 9800,
Windows XP Pro version 2002 (SP2) (Installation CD included),
Intel Pentium III 930 MHz Processor,
128 MB RAM,
40 GB Hard Drive,
CD-RW Drive,
DVD-ROM Drive,
1.44 MB Diskette Drive,
Two USB Ports (front),
1 serial port,
1 parallel port with ECP,
1 standard mouse: PS/2 port,
1 standard keyboard: PS/2 port,
15” monitor (Samsung),
1 1/8" headphone jack, 1 1/8" microphone jack,
Microsoft Office XP Standard Version 2002 (Installation CD included),
Ethernet Card (DSL),
Internet Ready!

Used but in very good condition

I'd say a good 200 dollars or so, the MS Office and XP Pro adds quite a bit of value to it but you can get brand new computers with 4x the RAM, 2x the hard drive space, powerful integrated video cards, DVD burners and 10x more powerful processors for 400$ these days. You may be able to get 250$ possibly.

I would say that sounds like a good system for someone wanting to browse the Internet, read emails and such. I would recommend you upgrade the RAM. I would recommend 512 for XP Pro also with you not saying what graphics it has, I assume it's on-board which will share the RAM bringing the available memory below XP's minimum requirements.

Upgrading the RAM is quite cheap and it will add more value to the system than it will cost. After you do this, I see no reason why you wouldn't get $200 for it.

Look on eBay and see what they are going for. Watch a couple and see the end price. My advice would be to sell the xp software separately, if it's OEM you have to sell software with a piece of hardware eg. ram. Then give the computer to a charity that does them up for the underprivileged.

The hardware is worth no more than $150

The software is considerably more valuable if it is legitimate & the licenses can successfully be transfered to you by Microsoft.

Minimum retail list :

XP pro = $110 (OEM)
Office = $100 (Student version)

um as far as im concerned i would sell for like 3-7 thousand depending on its quality , how old it is and how much it has been used, and also if u completely wiped it clean of everything you had on it.

It's not worth much. Maybe $200 or a little more, if you can find a sucker.
