I need a good but cheap computer that can handle new games and run smoothly. I don't really care about the harddrive, I normally don't take up a bunch of space on it.
I have looked at www.geeks.com - Is it okay to buy from there?
I also thought about ebay.com - cyberpowerpc.com - newegg.com and dell.com
I want something around 500-600, maybe even less.
I do not want to regret getting it after I buy it either...
What do you suggest I get and why?
Do you know any other good websites that sell computers?
I also need to know some good games that you can play online with no monthly charge.
Thanks

I have my computer hooked up to a surge protector (very expensive one). All my computer screen says when I try to reboot it is no connection. I checked the cords and everything is connected properly. I hope my system didn't get fried and if it did shouldn't the company I got the surge protector from pay for it?

After reinstalling XP Home Edition my display settings were set at a very low level and I can't seem to adjust them. I went through the troubleshooting process but some of the options it suggested I was not able to access.

The computer was very buggy, adware, spyware and viruses out the yinyang. It was beyond using antivirus software or anti-malware software to repair it.

Is it possible that the reboot did not remove all the malware? Would using a good hard drive eraser solve this problem? Or do I need to look at other options?

Of the following Dell computers, which would be best? I don't need it for very important stuff....just to play Sims, watch movies, listen to music, Internet, photos and to write a few papers now and then.
Again, these are all Dell computers.

XPS 410,
Dimension C521,
Dimension E521,
Dimension E520.

Thanks for any help. I have no idea when it comes to tech stuff.

I bought my computer 3 years ago and now the CD-ROM drive seems to have a problem. Whenever I press the button, it cannot open and if there is CD inside, it will autoplay the CD (It's like there is something blocking the opening, the CD is blocked forcefully and then it goes back again and the com autoplays it) My computer is HP Pavillion 774d. Anyone can help?

I am not a computer person, not by far. But I'd like to know what specs, as far as RAM, GB, and all that other stuff (?) I should look for in a new computer that I buy my son for Xmas? He is not an "online gamer" but needs a good solid educational use computer to get him through from 7th to 12th grade.
