Right now the average off the shelf PC currently uses about 2GB of ram. 90% of people buying a PC now a days are looking for 1-2GB more to the 2GB range. Have they started to produce any 4GB off the shelf PCs yet or put any presure on 4GB yet? We all know it will happen within the next 2 years for sure. My dad is saveing for a PC and wants to know what to aim for? Should he grab a 2GB and upgrade later , Grab a 4GB now? Or wait 3 months to 2 years and grab a PC then?

He does not want to make a mistake and waste money. He is trying to wait for vista already. I use a 4GB PC now but its overkill for me right now and I am a gamer. Does anybody have any info on when PCs will start to be more 4GB rather then the current 2GB now?

Im have an older Gateway computer its got 18GB of hard drive and only like 338 MB of RAM, im gettin into games that take alot of space and take alot ot run (world of warcraft) it runs not but very slow i was just wondering do you think it would be worth it to get any exteral hard drive and a RAM upgrade or just go with a whole new tower? i really dont have 600-800$ for a tower but is it a waste to spend 200-300$ on upgrades or in the long run just better to get a new tower?

My speakers have recently started "cracking and popping". But only when I play Yuri's Revenge. I've tried turning down my bass, slowing my hardware acceleration to standard, turning my soundcard volume down, turning down the volumes in game... 5.1 surround sound Logitech THX speakers. SB Audigy soundcard. Any ideas?

I have an old Compaq Presario desktop pc that has a small hard drive of only 9GB...(it's sad, really). I just came across an old spare hard drive that holds an additional 6GB.
Is there any way I can install this extra HD on to my Presario that I'm currently using to gain more storage capacity???
If so, how??? Your help is appreciated.

Is there anyway I can recover this or do I need a new hard drive. I don't want to lose all my data..

My computer as stopped working, smell coming from power supply, have replaced power supply but absolutly dead. on inspection of main board there is a little green light that illuminates when computer is switched on. but no action from computer. Would this indicate that the main board is up the swanny, or is there a magic little switch or fuse somewhere on the main board, that is hiding itself.. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.Dave Thanks.
