My computer as stopped working, smell coming from power supply, have replaced power supply but absolutly dead. on inspection of main board there is a little green light that illuminates when computer is switched on. but no action from computer. Would this indicate that the main board is up the swanny, or is there a magic little switch or fuse somewhere on the main board, that is hiding itself.. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.Dave Thanks.

Check the power connections once again
or
is your mainboard newer than 810 chipset board
if its newer its gone
or if it's older search for the switch with 3 or 5 small switches in a row and try to change that randomly if it works your luck or else throw to garbage.

unplug the computer and pull out the little nicke sized battery for a few seconds then put the battery back in and try to start
if that works great if not start unplugging devices and cards one at a time and try to start after each is removed if it still dont start it may be all over for the motherboard

Power Supply going bad can take other electronic parts with it. Motherboard is probably toast.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
