It is obvious that AGP is faster ( bandwidth : 64 bits ) than PCI ( bandwidth : 16 or 32 bits.
but new motherboards do not have AGP slot any more. Instead they use PCI_Express ( Bandwidth : 128 or 256 bits ) which is 2 or 4 times faster than AGP ( bandwidth : 64 bits )

Another issue is new VGA Cards for PCI_Express have very powerful GPUs (Graphic Processing Unit ) that use High_Tech architecture ( more pipe linings and instructions ) which do all processing themselves and do not take the time of CPU for
rendering pictures.
And At last new VGA cards have DDR2 or DDR3 memories which act very fast in pulling and pushing data.

these are some info, for detailed you can contact me.

best wishes ,

Well easy answer AGP is better then pci But there is a new dog in town called PCI-E which is better then AGP but PCI is out dated by about ummmmm 6 years AGP is now the old school graphics card. AGP stands for Accellerated graphics port
Now back long ago in 2004 AGP was the mainstream macho man.But now that PCI-E is in the circus AGP is going down the tubes. If you are planning on building a PC look into PCI-E if you are looking to upgrade a Dinosaur then AGP is your best bet. PCI-E is PCI-Express which you can have two graphics cards running in SLI mode and really kicking up a storm. And everyone knows 2 is better then one. They both run together to give you outstanding performance. www.nvidia.com check out the SLI zone there and you will understand more.

PCI Express (abbreviated PCI-X) is NOT the same as PCI.

PCI-X better than AGP better than PCI

Modern video cards are for PCI-X x16 slots.

Hope that clears up your confusion.

PCI-E is considered better, however I still prefer to stick with AGP.
