You have a fun little virus called a zombie! Your computer is on a timer will turn on at a certain time every day. It wouldn't surprise me if your computer is also being used to send out bulk e-mails, commonly referred to as spam! I would suggest that you download AVG, and spy bot search and destroy. I don't also suggest you do a google search for Windows startup analyzer, download and install this program to find out what's running in the background of your system, in turn anything off that you don't recognize! Until you track down and removed his virus I would also suggest you unplug your computer from the wall, when it is not in use.

LOL, I like the robotic arm comment. That is funny. In any case, yes check the BIOS. Also, check the BIOS for another thing too. Is a phone line attached to the modem? If it is and you get a call each morning, this could also be cause. Look in the BIOS for this setting if you suspect that this may be the case.

Hi. Sounds like 'auto-start' is enabled in the BIOS. Reboot your computer and, depending on the brand, press the 'Delete' key or 'F8' key while booting to get into BIOS. Look for the option and disable it.

If you turn it off properly instead of leaving it on standby it can't restart. It's a physical impossibility. Me, I always shut it off at the mains just to be sure anyway...
