i just bought a new computer and i thought i could make my own backup DVD, but i don't remember how to do it.

i found the system backup, but it won't allow me to write it to a DVD.

will it still work correctly if i do a full system backup, save it to the desktop, then copy that to a DVD?

My CPU frequently stops entirely after I run the games for a short while even though the specs on my machine is more than ideal to run the programs.My monitor screen just 'freezes' and the CPU stops responding.

i've recently discovered that my hard drive has to be replaced. i was told by a friend that my computer may not accept an aftermarket hard drive, and that i'd need a new motherboard to support the new hard drive. is this entirely true?

Okay so we have tried updating it but it messed up our computer so we reloaded OS 9 this was about 2 years ago. Now lately a new problem has arisen-now it will freeze up during any application, I can't print or save or do anything. We used Norton Disk Doctor and it found major errors in some internet files but that was about it. I have no idea what is wrong-we don't have many files or applications on it either. Please if someone has any idea how to fix it or if we need to get someone to come screw around with it or if we need to get a new computer please offer your smart computer minds.

I am getting a computer for my 11 yr old son to use for school. He will be using it for online research and projects. He will have to be able to download pictures and put them on MS word for his projects.
This is just a computer for him to use for the next 3-4 yrs until he's in high school and needs a better computer.

The fan inside my computer the one on the board itself what is this called and cna I do anything to make it more quiter or is it easier to get a new one it has a white lever at the top and bottom of it can I take it out to clean it and is it safe to do so and how would you go about taking it off.

i went to turn on my computer and it would not turn on i looked in the back and the light wasn't on for the PSU. so i took of the power cord going to the PSU than opened the case than removed the 20 pin motherboard plug than plugged the PSU back in and the light was on.than after unplugging the PSU again i took the 20 pin and put it back on and plugged the PSU back in and the light went off again.

Not that either one is better than the other, but it would be nice to be able to build your own Apple Computer, by buying a motherboard and doing everything yourself. Why can't we do this, as apposed to PCs?

i know i need to upgrade the machine, but until i do i can't get the mac to boot up from the cd-rom even when there is a bootable disk..

i have tried holdin down the "c" key but that did not owrk then i tried a couple of times "ctrl-option-shift-delete"

but that did not worked either... i even swapped the cd drive with a known working aopple cd rom drive......just for those who are curious i am installing xubuntu 6.10 or ubuntu for mac 6.06

i know that these os work on a mac cauase i have done it before but i for some reason cannot get this one to work.... it only wants to boot to the harddrive.

All I did was to put a video DVD in the desktop and it has been reading the disk for a few hours and the drive is now not showing up in Windows Explorer nor am I able to eject the disc. Any help would be appreciated.

My computer is downloading to fast (0.6 mb/sec) and it will halt my downloads without an error message. I think it is going above its speed capacity so how would I reduce it? I did a scandisk, defragment. Everything else works okay.
